Away days.

Since Alrewas Birder blog proper was put to rest I have hardly done much birding away from Whitemoor Haye.  Sites have included the following.
  • Cannock Chase - migrants and residents
  • Branston gravel pits - migrants and residents
  • Hales - a smart Green-winged Teal
  • Croxall - usuals
  • Radford Meadows - Common Crane
  • Parkgate Marsh - high tide
  • Willington gravel pits - migrants and residents
  • Berryhill Fields - migrants
  • Doxey Marshes - stunning Red-spotted Bluethroat
  • Aldbrough - equally stunning European Roller
  • Flamborough Head - breeding birds and twitch for Rose-coloured Starling (dipped)
  • Bempton Cliffs RSPB - breeding sea birds
  • Silverdale Colliery - Red-backed Shrike (dipped)
Not a lot really and no holidays and in fact I am not doing a birding holiday this year, unfortunately.
To be honest, apart from a twitch I have mainlky birded in Staffordshire this year with the odd sneaky trip into Derbyshire and I do not think things will change in the near future as I am not chasing my year list this year but next year now that will be different and will include a few holidays I hope.
